THE STORY

Over a decade ago, Scott Davies drowned in the heart of Cambridge. After reviewing the evidence available at the time, the inquest returned an open verdict.

Under amendments to the Justice Act 2021, coroner's juries have become a popular means to clear the backlog of unsolved deaths. Together with thirteen others and a team from the Coroner's Office, your duty is to determine the events that led up to Davies’ death.

HOW IT WORKS

The Inquest players are invited to join other players at a central London office location to consider a case Live actors greet them and will assist, but not guide, their deliberations.
Players are presented with physical evidence, sworn statements, and a computer database relating to an unsolved death from more than a decade ago.
Players work with the characters and unravel the truth, finding a labyrinth of clues and lies to unpick, including hacking into telephone systems.
When the time is up, players are asked to vote on a conclusion: what happened to Scott Davies?

Great experience with two great actors (although I expected the defendant to be physically in the room), interesting format and story with surprises. A lot of information and things to look into within a short amount of time, but the actor in the room does a good job at guiding you to the important things. 1.5hr went by so quickly!

Highly recommend! If you enjoy Escape rooms, Murder mystery or Cold cases, you will really enjoy this. We played as a group of 5, with mixed levels of 'experiences' and it was enjoyed by all. Very well priced for the offering. Firstly although it's 90 mins, we found it felt like a really full afternoon - it wasn't rushed and it was nice to have a conclusion at the end when voting on the charges (unlike an escape room where you just get let out and haven't completed) we left feeling we really got our moneys worth. Secondly, you have 2 live actors in the room, which before the event I don't know that we understood their role, but they are invaluable in making sure you don't ruin your own experience! If you've tried solving any murder mystery you'll know how easy it is to misunderstand something or accidentally make an assumption and then run away with it, wasting lots of time, they prevent this by questioning where you found or how you know something, who verified it, etc and they gently offer opinions. They also assist with 'unlocking' more evidence, they can give you more details or subtle direction once your on to something. Thirdly, although planned it absolutely is not scripted. It is improvisation, they did a phenomenal job of making sure they delivered everything in natural interaction with us, and you do really get to interrogate where needed (again an advance on coldcase/murder mystery, as you can prove or disprove your theories quickly) the actors did a great job. Lastly the point of it being a Jury is that there isn't a win or fail in the experience. Regardless of how far you get into 'solving' or proving fact, you come together to vote and conclude the case, which is a really interesting experience when mixed with people of different backgrounds and experiences. Overall really enjoyable and interesting, a unique experience!
